Son of God

“This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.”

A long time ago, the people of a land called Judea were waiting for someone. Their scrolls and their teachers all said that one day, someone would come for them—someone from God. This person would help them, and heal them, and deliver them. They had waited for a long time. They called this person "Messiah." One day, a man appeared and started walking through the towns helping people. He healed those who were sick and spoke to people in stories. He caused people to think about God again—in a new way. The people were surprised by how much he knew. He was kind, yet so powerful. They wondered—Who is this man? Another man was doing something similar. He lived in the desert and was telling people to turn back to God. When these two met, one said about the other: "This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." He believed that this man was the one the people had been waiting for—the one that would bring them back to God. The people began to follow this man. They began saying to each other, "We have found the one Moses spoke about. The one written of in our scrolls. We have found the Messiah." Many began to believe in him. These people didn't need a long explanation. Their hearts burned within them and they knew this man was sent by God. They believed he was the Son of God—God's own son, sent to bring light, truth and love.

Thoughts to Consider

Could this man be the one who brings us back to God? Has he come to help us know God?
