High Priest

Before the teacher was killed, he prayed one of the most beautiful prayers. He lifted his eyes to heaven and spoke to his Father. In this prayer, the teacher showed his love not only for his students but also for everyone who would believe in him. First, he prayed for himself. He asked the Father to glorify him and to finish the mission to which he was sent, in order that the Father would be honored. The teacher said that before the world even began, he shared glory with the Father. This was not just a man—he had always been with God, from the very beginning. Next, he prayed for his students. He asked God to protect them and keep them safe from the evil one. He knew the world would hate them, just like it hated him. But instead of taking them out of the world, the teacher prayed that they would be strong, full of faith, and holy. He asked the Father to make them holy through the truth—God's word. The teacher then prayed for all those who would believe in him. He asked that everyone who would follow him to be united in love, just like he and the Father are one. He wanted the world to see this love and know that he was truly sent by God. He prayed that his followers would one day be with him in heaven and share in his glory.
