Risen Savior

“The stone had been rolled away.”

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, a woman went to the tomb. To her surprise, the stone had been rolled away! She ran to his students and said, "They have taken his body, and we don't know where he is." His students raced to the tomb. The first one to arrive saw the cloths that the teacher had been wrapped in, but he would not enter the tomb. However, another student immediately entered the tomb and saw the cloths folded neatly where the body had been laid. And they saw two angels there covering the place—one where his head was and one where his feet were. But they still did not understand that the teacher was to rise from the dead. The woman that had gone with them stayed outside the tomb, weeping. She also saw the two angels inside. She also saw a man she thought was the gardener. But when he spoke her name she knew it was the teacher. He told her to go and tell the other students that he was ascending to his Father. That evening, the students hid in fear behind locked doors. Suddenly, the teacher appeared to them and said, "Peace be with you." He showed them his hands and his feet where he had been pierced. Then he breathed upon them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit." One of his students was not there to witness this. He refused to believe it unless he saw the wounds with his own eyes. One week later, the teacher appeared again and invited the student to touch his open wounds. The student cried out, "My Lord and my God!"

Thoughts to Consider

The teacher said, "Blessed are those who have not seen and still believe."
